I get a call from my housemate during class today to find out that the electricity in the upstairs apartment – aka my part of the house – has been shut off. Thank you psycho ex-housemate for a) not working with me to cancel your account with National Grid to let me deal with the electric once you moved out b) saying you were still paying them and that the overdue bills that we found were a mistake and you WERE late but had fixed it (after all, the electric was still on past the date they said they could shut it off, right?) and c) taking our money because you had to pay them. Thanks a ton. Good thing you didn’t ask us for electric money the past two months…though I guess maybe that was a tip-off. Good thing my housemate’s smart enough to shut off my desktop before they turned off the electric too. Good thing it’s not winter any more and I don’t need my heat blanket in my room to be able to fall asleep. Good thing I can go downstairs and use their fridge and washer/dryer. Good thing National Grid is willing to work with me and let me have an account for just a month and start with a zero balance, provided I get a note from the landlord stating that you no longer live at the house.
Why does shit always happen during the spring semester? I feel like things just keep going more and more downhill, and I don’t need any more stress in these last two weeks. I sure hope nothing else happens….*crosses fingers*

Easter break was uneventful, but after that everything picked up. Been busy working on my client project for web 2, as well as my 3rd multimedia project. The client project is more or less done, we have a few small changes to make, and then we have to take it to the Loretto group and show them. Multimedia is…..both wonderful and frustrating at the same time. I love what I can do with actionscript, but the errors take SO long to fix. I spent a good three hrs right after class on Thursday trying to figure it out, and finally found at least where the problem was. On Friday I discovered that my one problem was actually two. Fixed part of it, but now I’m back to square one with the other. Hopefully Cara will have some ideas on Tuesday.

so, I’m currently sitting in an auditorium in VA. Why am I in Virginia? Well, the past three years I have volunteered at the a cappella summit that has been held here. It’s always a lot of fun, and this year is no exception. It’s a ridiculous amount of work, the people that give their time to put on the concerts are so talented. I’m always amazed when I hear them sing, and every year there are a few different groups, so there’s always a lot of different styles. That’s right, a cappella isn’t just one style. You have your basic barbershop, and there are rock a cappella groups, and many more. I enjoy hearing the groups from other countries the most, because they’re the ones that have the more unique styles. This year we have a group from Denmark and from Germany. It’s just soundcheck right now, but I can’t wait to hear what they all sound like at the concert tonight!!

What’s new you say? Well, yesterday I decided to start cleaning/organizing my room. Let me tell you, that was an incredibly smart decision because I found my midterm information. That’s right, I completely forgot that I had a midterm due. Cleaning saved my life. Or my grade at least. Note to self: be smart like last semester and write down a list every week of what you need to get done.
In other news, I’m sick. Again. I think it’s a sinus infection based on my head feeling like it’s going to explode. This semester though…..the one week that I was actually completely free of anything was spring break in MI. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s something to do with my room….the fact that the temperature is probably somewhere around 50. I have a heating blanket, but that obviously doesn’t heat the air I breathe, so maybe that’s the problem? I have no clue, but a trip to the health center is due.

I don’t know why, but I always feel so un-motivated in the spring semester. It doesn’t make sense, because I love what I’m doing in my art classes, but I have to force myself to work on anything. Maybe I’m just antsy because I’m sitting in front of a computer all day long….I don’t know. I just hope that my motivation comes back soon.

Our first project for web 2 is definitely one that I’m enjoying. It’s very reflective, something I don’t do very often. It makes me remember all this stuff that I’ve done in my life, and it’s kind of cool
. No ideas yet for the design aspect…that’s a task for the weekend.
We also were informed about what our client project is going to be. It’s….wait for it…..for an old people home!! Not really the most interesting thing…but it could definitely be worse. I guess we’ll see how it works out.
